This was a tune the original instrumental Solcola used to do that I loved. It’s in 11/8 time, which you don’t hear so often, and when I created muzikDEN, I thought it would be a fitting theme (reconstructed somewhat).

Based on the strange “Coltrane” blues changes (and then alternating with regular blues changes for solos), this was performed live in Vancouver. Bass and drums trade fours at 4.01 – always liked this solo, check it out.

This is the first “classical” piece I ever wrote and reflects my obsession at the time with unusual scales. The main body/middle section uses a whole tone scale exclusively – my computer music teacher (it was a term project) said it sounded like the theme to a speghetti western by Tim Burton – I took that as a complement.
