song: Quartet album: Snausages (home studio)
music & performance by Jeff MacArthur:

I always wanted to write a little string quartet just to say I had, so here it is. Another university composition, distantly descended from a guitar piece I used to play.

song: Mississippi Blues album: Song Contest Submission (live studio)
music & lyrics by Jeff MacArthur
performed by JMac:
- Jeff MacArthur – guitar, bass, vocals, harmonica
- Nick Clark – drums
Have real reservations putting this up here, as it’s the first vocal song I ever recorded and from a long, long time ago. It was recorded for the John Lennon Song Writing Contest and I like the song enough that I’ll overlook my youthful vocal abilities, hopefully you can too
.

“Day’s almost gone and the night’s comin on
moon’s on the rise and the chill in your eyes
tells me what we had is gone, now it’s time to move on
on my way – ask me to stay,
Cool country air and the smell of your hair
wind’s icy breeze and the rustle of the leaves
blowin through the air, now I’m finally aware
it’s you I’ll miss – just one more kiss,
And I don’t always know what to say
and I don’t always know what to do
and I don’t always know a way to get away
but I know that this time it is through
yes, I know that this time there is no other way
and I know that this time it is through,
Night turns to dawn and still you’re not gone
but that icy stare tells me to beware
that soon you’ll be gone, then I’ll have no one
please do not go – say it’s not so,
CHORUS
You’ve been gone for years I say sobbin through my tears
and as I wipe my eyes, I see the new sunrise
but you’ve disappeared, like the worst of all my fears
with no goodbye – I think I’m gonna die,
Cuz I never really knew what to say
and I didn’t always know what to do
and I couldn’t ever find a way to get away
but I know that this time it is through
yes I know that this time there is no other way
and I know that this time it is through.” (more…)
